Updos!

As a subscriber to the messy upsweep for all occasions {and usually because it's sticky-hot in Houston}, I'm loving these recent red carpet moments. It proves you don't need a perfect blowout or an elaborate coif to look stunning. All you need is a little texture {think hairspray or a little paste, but um, dry shampoo on dirty hair works} and an elastic or a few pins. The messier and more imperfect, the better, and there's no mirror required. But the real secret to pulling off a look like this: eye makeup matters. Now's the time to try a smoky gray eye or cat-eye liner effect. I cheat the latter with Tarina Tarantino's Hyperliner. It's a pencil, but the color goes on smoothly and gives you time to play and perfect. Don't forget to curl your lashes and drench them with black mascara. Speaking of, what's your favorite mascara?

Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by my brand-new blog! It's been several weeks in the making—along with my new professional site hollycrawford.com—and I could't be happier to see it all come together as we greet September. It's been a fun journey, picking colors and fonts with my designer pal Karee Laing of Studio Brand Collective. What started as a conversation at a party in late spring and continued a few weeks later at a coffee shop, has come to fruition—and right on schedule! This will be a place of inspiration and happy thoughts, of expert tips and observations from beautiful people, places and things—and most of all, I hope it becomes a fun venue for wonderful women everywhere. Stay tuned!
